Step One: Transcript Review
Please send copies of any and all official post-secondary transcripts for review by the Excellence in Teaching Program admissions team. Transcripts can be emailed to etphelp@cesa9.org or mailed to:

Please indicate that you are pursuing a Special Education teaching license.
Transcript Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of 6 credits with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA in each of the following subject areas: math, science, English, and social studies. If minimums are not met, you may still be invited to apply but will be required to pass the Middle School: Content Knowledge Praxis exam (#5146) before being recommended for licensure by the Excellence in Teaching Program.
Credentials will be reviewed by the Excellence in Teaching Program admissions team using Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) guidelines. Once transcripts are reviewed by our team, we will let you know if you are eligible for our program and may invite you to apply.

Step Two: Apply - We are currently accepting applications for the 2025-2026 Cohort!
The following items need to be submitted before an interview is scheduled:
- Complete and submit our online application.
- Submit the $100.00 application fee. Payment can be made by check or money order directly to CESA 9 or by PayPal through our website. This fee is non-refundable.
- Submit a current resume. This can be submitted with your application as an attachment or emailed to etphelp@cesa9.org.
- Contact information for at least two references should be provided on the application.
- Complete CESA 9's background check paperwork. This will be emailed to you once your application is received.

Step Three: Interview
Once the application materials are reviewed, you will be invited for an entrance interview prior to final admission approval. This interview will help the admissions team determine if you have the disposition desired for teaching and meet program requirements. Interviews take approximately 45 minutes and are done virtually, via Zoom. All applicants will be notified of the status of admission (admission approved, admission denied). All admission decisions by the Excellence in Teaching Program team are final.

Step Four: Acceptance and Enrollment
If admission is approved and you wish to enroll, we require a $750 non-refundable deposit to hold your spot in the cohort. Once the deposit is received, you will:
- Receive access to our program handbook.
- Complete our payment agreement which will be sent from the CESA 9 business office.
- Complete and submit all enrollment paperwork provided by the Excellence in Teaching Program.
Other: Experience Working with Children
Documentation of a minimum of 20 hours working with children is required. You may be admitted to the Excellence in Teaching Program with less than 20 hours of experience working with children but must complete this task before the start of the program in September.
