Program Overview

With our Subject Area General Education route, you will earn a teaching license for a specific subject.  Subject areas include: English, Science, Math, Social Studies, World Languages, Business Education, Computer Science, Health, Theater, Music, Art, and Family and Consumer Education.  Please view the complete list of licenses we offer.

This DPI-approved program is designed to take approximately 10-12 months to complete and includes asynchronous learning coursework, monthly face-to-face classes (both in-person and virtual), 40 hours of pre-student teaching, an 18-week clinical experience (student teaching), and a portfolio demonstrating proficiency in Wisconsin's 10 Teaching Standards.

Our instructors designed the coursework to develop reflective, collaborative educators who are continually learning to help their students learn.  Our advisors work with you during your pre-student teaching, clinical experience, and portfolio completion offering observations, feedback, guidance, and encouragement.  Additionally, we will work with your school in assigning an on-site mentor to offer similar services.

If you are ready to start the journey of becoming a teacher, please review our admission process and program requirements.
